Samuel Mason, that is my name I left Fort Henry seeking fortune and fame I came from Virginia a long time ago But now I am a pirate along the Ohio Murder and robbery, those are my crimes I'll lure you in with women and wine Hurricane Island seals your fate For from this shore there is no escape Be wary oh you travelers along the Ohio For I'm the cruelest villain this river has known The lawmen can't catch me though ever they try Mark my words, they won't take me alive Samuel Mason, that is my name Running from the law is a dangerous game Down the Mississippi, that's where I'll go But once I was a pirate along the Ohio

I got nothing but, nothing but sandals on my feet Could you spare, could you spare me something to eat Loving you and hugging you and kissing you is gonna be so bittersweet I got nothing but, nothing but sandals on my feet I catch a train, catch a train but I don't pay Because I get where I'm going by the end of the day Ain't nobody waiting at the station for me anyway, no I catch a train, catch a train but you know I don't pay I am a pilgrim, a pilgrim without a home Walking down somebody else's road Take what I find and I make it my own And I keep walking till they put me under my gravestone Well I get off somewhere outside of Toledo I've been traveling, traveling incognito Where am I going and how do I get there, God only knows Will I end up in the rain or in the snow I got a little lady waiting at the end of the line I put my thumb in the air, try to get a ride Brake lights flash and a car slows down, I climb inside Who should it be but my lady at the end of the line I am a pilgrim, a pilgrim without a home Walking down somebody else's road Wish I could stay but I have to go And I keep walking till the put me under my gravestone

Slow me down, sugar babe Slow me down, it’s a revolution day Sometimes it’s the sun, and sometimes it’s the rain Slow me down, slow me down, sugar babe You can’t love what you don’t know And there’s still such a long way to go I believe that I’ll reap just what I sow Slow me down, slow me down, sugar babe Slow me down, my sugar babe Slow me down, it’s a revolution day Sometimes it’s the sun, and sometimes it’s the rain Slow me down, slow me down, sugar babe Darling, I don’t know what’s best Won’t you please hold me to your breast ‘Cause I did what I could and I couldn’t do the rest Slow me down, slow me down, sugar babe Slow me down, my sugar babe Slow me down, it’s a revolution day Sometimes it’s the sun, and sometimes it’s the rain Slow me down, slow me down, sugar babe

Do you remember Marin And the way that the sand Would slip through our hands The glow of the sun on your skin And the taste of the air When nobody cared Do you remember Marin And the way that you laughed We never asked How did this ever begin In a moment so free With just you and me Do you remember Marin We drove out Point Reyes And the sound of the waves You told me to look within But every moment dies I hung my head and I cried

She smiled at me And said why don't we Go outside She opened the door And I heard the roar Of the rain from the sky I couldn't help but stare As the rain washed her hair And ran down her face She took me by the hand Through puddles we ran Down the street we raced Summer has, come at last But don't it seem Like all the good summers Have faded to a dream I stopped her with a smile We stood there for a while Her cheek I kissed And it's been so many years Without her near That summer I miss

One for the morning, two for day Three for the evening, slipping away I’ll tell you, I got it in my mind To let that blue ridge take me for a ride I’m not asking you to change for me Do you think that we can find Do you think that we can find a way to be Tell me darling, tell me darling true Tell me one more time just what this means to you It’s so hard for me to understand But I wanna love you any way that I can I’m not asking you to change for me Do you think that we can find Do you think that we can find a way to be One for the morning, two for the day Three for the evening and I don’t know what to say But the road keeps winding all along the mountainside So I’m gonna let that blue ridge take me for a ride, take me for a ride I’m not asking you to change a thing for me Do you think that we can find Do you think that we can still find a way to be

about

Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand have been managing their own independent label GREAT BEAR RECORDS since they were in their teens.  This compilation explores a decade of original roots music from The Great Bear Trio, Andrew & Noah Band, The Faux Paws, Wake Up Robin, Buddy System and more!  Andrew and Noah bend and blend traditional folk, old-time, bluegrass, americana, zydeco, celtic, western swing, jazz, indie-roots-rock and all kinds of dance grooves.  Their sound is defined by movement and emotion; ranging from lush orchestration and epic dynamics to intimate acoustic reflection and soaring improvisation.  Aided by a close-knit group of band mates and collaborators, Andrew and Noah have created their own musical multiverse and THIS is the perfect guide for your journey.
